Images and Sounds

Yet again, I've been hard at work trying to set up my Etsy store and get these prints going. Not only have I finished my store, but I have finally made some test prints that I am proud of. On top of all of that, I have been creating new artwork and new paintings.

As I've said before, I'm going to share what I'm listening to when I go into create mode. This past painting day, here's what I was listening to:

1. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists- Timorous Me

2. Alkaline Trio- Calling All Skeletons

3. Sleater-Kinney- One Beat

4. Coheed and Cambria- the Running Free

5. Fitz and the Tantrums- Moneygrabber

6. David Bowie- Suffragette City

7. the Thermals- A Stare Like Yours

8. the Mars Volta- Roulette Dares (the Haunt of)

9. Cursive- Some Red Handed Sleight of Hand

10. Neutral Milk Hotel- Holland 1945

11. Cockney Rejects- Dead Generation

12. Brand New- Seventy Times 7

Nothing better to create great art than to be surrounded by great music.

And finally, to end this post, here is the link to my store Little Unrealities . I still have to post my first items, but the store is finally finished!

Long overdue update! New year, new work.

Happy new year! I know it's been quite a while since I've updated this site. I've got a ton of great ideas to work on this year including more paintings, drawings, photo prints, and even t-shirts and calendars. This year, I'm determined to get the ball rolling with my Little Unrealities store on Etsy. I'm feeling inspired lately and can't wait to share everything. Along with the promise of new artwork, I've decided I'm going to start sharing what I'm listening to while I create. I feel that music is necessary for the creative process, so why not share my creative mojo playlists. That's all I have to update for the time being. Get ready for a great year of quirky creativity and inspiration. -Sarah

Prints!

Hey everyone, I've been working hard on perfecting my prints. I've also been in the process of creating an Etsy store to sell all of these prints. As for right now I only have a few printed and I've been playing around with them to see how they look in frames. Here they are!

Sketchbook Project Opening=Great Success

Today was the opening of the Art House Co- op 2012 Sketchbook Project! After the stress and struggle of having my book lost, found, lost again, then found again, I was able to go and see it in person. I was super excited to see the Brooklyn Art Library for the first time ever and I will definitely return. As for the project, I loved how everything was set up and executed. I also was very impressed with the books I took out. There was clearly a lot of work put into each one. Before I left, I made sure to pick up a shirt and ask politely if I could leave a small pile of my prints on the counter for anyone to take. Luckily, they said yes. I hope whoever grabbed them enjoys them. All in all, great experience that I would definitely do again. Thanks, Art House!

The Sketchbook Project

A year ago I was made aware of the Art House Co-op and their sketchbook project but missed the deadline. The sketchbook project works like this: they send you a blank sketchbook, you fill it up, send it back, and from there it gets archived and becomes a part of the Brooklyn Art Library. You can also opt to have the book digitized so anyone can see it on the website.Sounds like an artist's dream. This year, things are a bit different for the project. Not only do the books get archived at the Brooklyn Art Library and digitized, but they also get to travel. The 2012 sketchbook project is actually a tour. You make great and unique art, it gets to see the US and Canada (or Australia and England for artists from those regions), your great and unique art gets shared with others. I signed up to participate when it was still open in 2011 and worked hard until the deadline back in February. I put so much into my book and am still to this day proud of what I've done and waiting for others to see it. After a battle with UPS and several phone calls with a woman in Brooklyn who mistakenly got my book, it finally made it to the Art House Co-op. Though I'm still waiting for the full scans from them, I can share with you some early stages of the book.
For more information on the tour and the Art House Co-op, visit www.arthousecoop.com. They offer amazing projects and are constantly adding more.

Welcome to my art site!

Any time anyone has ever asked me to describe my art style, it's been difficult putting it into words. I've finally come up with the best description: little unrealities. They're peculiar designs that were born out of my wild imagination. Now they have a place to be shared with the rest of the world. Keep checking back as more artwork will be added!

Thank you for visiting and enjoy!
